Southwest Center for Independence is a private non-profit established in 1990 to serve Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma, and San Juan County in southwest Colorado (the Four Corners). We are certified by the State of Colorado as an Independent Living Center. There are over 400 Independent Living Centers in the country. SWCI is one of ten IL centers in Colorado. All Independent living centers are non residential, consumer controlled and directed as well as cross disability focused. SWCI provides a wide array of services to assist and empower people with disabilities to live independently in their communities with the supports that they need. Our Board of Directors holds open meetings on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 3:00 at The Commons Building in Durango.
